TINYpulse alternative

A TINYpulse alternative for employee engagement

TINYpulse was one of the early pulse survey tools, known for short regular surveys, anonymous suggestions and Cheers for Peers recognition. Its ownership has changed twice since 2021, and today it is sold as TINYpulse by WebMD Health Services, a company focused on employee well-being programs. If you are reviewing TINYpulse, or replacing it after the brand changes, compare the options on the work your team will run every month: the pulse, the confidentiality rules, the summary leadership reads and the actions that follow.

Ownership history

Where TINYpulse sits today

The ownership history matters because it affects who you contract with and what the product sits beside.

  • July 2021: Limeade, an employee well-being company then listed on the ASX, announced its acquisition of TINYpulse.
  • August 2023: WebMD Health Services announced that it had completed its acquisition of Limeade.
  • March 2024: WebMD Health Services announced that its employee engagement solution, marketed for a period as Limeade Listening, was returning to the TINYpulse brand.
  • Today: tinypulse.com redirects to a WebMD Health Services page titled "TINYpulse by WebMD Health Services." The page describes TINYpulse as an employee feedback and engagement solution and offers a demo request.

If you hold an older TINYpulse or Limeade contract, check which entity your renewal is with and whether terms changed at the rebrand.

Buying boundary

Define the system boundary

Decide what the engagement tool must own before you compare. TINYpulse is now one solution inside a well-being vendor whose catalog also includes the WebMD ONE platform, health coaching and well-being services. StaffHero is a stand-alone engagement tool. If you plan to buy well-being programs from the same vendor, a combined relationship may matter to you. If you only need the listening loop, write that down so the comparison stays on that scope.

In StaffHero, that loop is an eNPS℠ pulse run as recurring pulse surveys, grouped results, a written brief, anonymous follow-up and an action tracker.

Name the people and permissions

List who launches surveys, who reads company-wide results, which managers see their own team and who answers anonymous messages. Ask TINYpulse how manager access and anonymous replies are configured. In StaffHero, manager views are available on Growth and Scale, and every view respects the same reporting threshold.

Name the record of action

Decide where a commitment lives after a survey round. TINYpulse describes action plans supported by expert guidance from its customer success team. StaffHero links each finding to an entry in the action tracker, with an owner and a review date. Pick the model your leaders will keep current.

Documented breadth

What TINYpulse covers beyond StaffHero

The WebMD Health Services page lists Cheers for Peers recognition, Coach, Onboard and Suggestions, along with a dedicated customer success manager, 24/5 customer support and research from the WebMD Health Services Center for Research. The wider vendor also sells well-being programs, health coaching and communications services.

StaffHero does not offer peer recognition, onboarding tools or well-being programs, and it is not an HRIS, payroll, performance suite, learning system, goals tool, compensation tool or recruiting product.

Commercial comparison

Compare pricing and workload

StaffHero publishes three flat packages on its pricing page:

  • Starter: $99 a month for up to 50 employees.
  • Growth: $199 a month for up to 100 employees, with manager views and a bi-weekly pulse option.
  • Scale: $299 a month for up to 200 employees.

Annual billing includes two months free: $990, $1,990 and $2,990 a year. Packages cover up to 200 employees. More than 200 employees? Email hello@staffhero.com with your headcount and we'll reply in writing with a package for your team.

TINYpulse pricing is not published. The WebMD Health Services page offers a demo request, and the smallest employee count band on its demo form covers 0 to 999 employees. Older per-user TINYpulse prices still appear on third-party sites, but we could not tie any of them to a current WebMD Health Services source, so we do not repeat them. Our pricing comparison lists what each vendor publishes.

Build comparable requests

  • State your headcount, number of managers and planned survey cadence.
  • Ask TINYpulse whether it offers a package sized for your headcount, and what the minimum term is.
  • Ask which features are included in the quote: Cheers for Peers, Coach, Onboard, Suggestions and anonymous messaging.
  • Ask whether the quote requires any WebMD Health Services well-being product.
  • Ask for renewal terms and price-change caps in writing.

Workload deserves a line of its own. Estimate the hours per month that someone will spend scheduling pulses, maintaining teams, reading results, replying to anonymous messages and chasing actions. Customer success support can reduce some of that work; ask what it includes at your size.

Test script

Use one representative workflow

Run the same scenario in each tool. Here is a hypothetical one for a 140-person company with twelve managers. It is an illustration, not a customer story.

  1. The company runs a monthly pulse with the eNPS℠ question and a few driver questions.
  2. The company result and most team results clear the threshold. Three small teams fall below it.
  3. Leadership reads one summary of what changed and which comments recur.
  4. An open comment says that shift changes are posted too late to plan around.
  5. Someone asks a follow-up question without learning who wrote the comment.
  6. A leader assigns an action with an owner and a review date.
  7. The next pulse checks whether that area moved.

In StaffHero, no view falls below the reporting threshold, which has a hard floor of five responses. Open text uses its own threshold at or above that floor. The three small teams roll up into a larger group. The AI Leadership Brief summarizes the round. The follow-up goes to the author through an anonymous thread and the reply returns without identity. The action is logged against the finding.

For TINYpulse, ask the vendor to show the same steps, including how anonymous two-way communication works, what a manager of a small team sees and how action plans are tracked between rounds.

Buyer questions

Questions to ask in a TINYpulse demo

Bring your own questions so the demo stays on the listening loop rather than the wider well-being catalog.

  1. Is there a package for our headcount, and what is the minimum contract value and term?
  2. What is the smallest group that results are shown for, and who can change it?
  3. How does anonymous two-way communication keep the employee's identity private?
  4. Which features, such as Coach, Onboard and Suggestions, are in the quote?
  5. What does the dedicated customer success manager do in the first survey cycle?
  6. Has anything in the contract, support model or data handling changed since the WebMD Health Services acquisition?

Check the same points in StaffHero on your own. Create a free account, switch on demo mode inside the app, and read the sample Leadership Brief. The security page documents the reporting thresholds. Record every answer in one table so the comparison rests on facts you can verify.

Continuity and trust

Plan the migration before switching

  • Export historical pulse results, comments and suggestion data you are allowed to keep.
  • Decide whether trend continuity matters. A different question set will reset comparisons.
  • Decide what happens to Cheers for Peers history and any recognition habits your teams rely on.
  • Check whether any WebMD Health Services well-being products depend on the TINYpulse contract.
  • Rebuild teams and manager lists in the new tool.
  • Confirm your minimum group size and explain it to employees.
  • Write the employee announcement, including how anonymity works. Our anonymous feedback page explains StaffHero's approach.
  • Set the date of the last pulse in the old tool and the first in the new one.
  • Check your contract end date and notice period.

Assign one owner to sign off each item. Trust is the asset you are moving, so the announcement and threshold decisions deserve as much care as the data export.

Balanced fit guidance

Fit guidance

Consider StaffHero when

  • You want a stand-alone engagement tool with published, flat pricing.
  • Leadership wants one written brief per round and a short list of owned actions.
  • You want anonymous follow-up questions on comments that need context.
  • You have between 25 and 200 employees. Larger teams can email hello@staffhero.com with their headcount for a package in writing.

Keep TINYpulse on the shortlist when

  • Peer recognition through Cheers for Peers is central to your culture program.
  • You want onboarding and suggestion tools in the same product.
  • You value a dedicated customer success manager and 24/5 support.
  • You already buy well-being programs from WebMD Health Services and want one vendor.

Neither list is a verdict. Our employee engagement software guide explains how to choose between operating models.
